Moog

This section is the analog heart of my studio, paying homage to the legendary engineering of Moog. The journey begins with the classic pioneers Micromoog and Multimoog, leads through the punchy Sub 37 and the rare Rogue, and culminates with the modern semi-modular Grandmotherand Matriarch, known for their deep, organic soundscapes. As a deliberate contrast and historical bridge, a Memotron sits among them—a digital tribute to the Mellotron. With its real tape recordings of strings and choirs, it provides the perfect textural complement to the pure oscillators of the Moogs.

Yamaha

he heart of this section beats to the rhythm of Yamaha’s digital innovations. It is dominated by the legendary era of the 90s, led by the iconic DX7, whose pure FM synthesis defined the sound of an entire decade. It is flanked by the powerful workstations SY22 and SY77, pioneers that merged the worlds of FM synthesis, sampling, and unique Vector Synthesis to create extremely dynamic and evolving soundscapes. As a conscious, earthy contrast to this digital precision stands the Moog Sub Phatty right next to the SY77: A purely analog powerhouse that, with its fat substance and warm, sawing basslines, forms the perfect textural complement to the crystal-clear Yamaha overtones.

Sequential Circuits & Dave Smith Instruments

This section is a tribute to the vision of Dave Smith, the pioneer who forever changed music history with the invention of the polyphonic synthesizer. The journey begins with the historic Prophet 600, one of the very first instruments capable of playing multiple voices simultaneously, defining the sound of the 80s with its warm, slightly unpredictable charm. It continues with the modern evolution of this legend: The Prophet 08 (from Dave Smith Instruments) brought the classic Prophet architecture into the 21st century with crystal-clear tuning stability and expanded modulation, while its big brother, the Prophet Rev 2, delivers orchestral pads and massive sound walls with up to 16 voices and an infinitely deep, layered ‘Stack’ mode. Together, they represent the unbroken DNA of the ‘Prophet’ sound: a unique blend of musical intuition, fat analog warmth, and timeless elegance.

Novation and Roland

The creative center of the studio is anchored by a dedicated island featuring three distinct powerhouses of synthesis. Dominating the space is the legendary Prophet 5, the instrument that defined the golden age of analog polyphony with its rich, breathing strings and iconic brass patches that have shaped countless hit records. Standing beside it is the Novation Summit, a modern marvel of hybrid engineering that blends dual digital engines with a pristine analog signal path, offering unparalleled versatility for evolving textures and complex split layers. Completing this triumvirate is the flagship Roland JD-800, a ‘hands-on’ digital synthesizer renowned for its unique interface of direct waveform buttons and faders, allowing for real-time sculpting of crisp, dynamic, and highly detailed soundscapes. Together, this island represents the perfect synthesis of history, innovation, and tactile control.

Hammond, Behringer and Korg

This section is anchored by the majestic Hammond XK-3c, a tribute to the king of organs. It’s not just a keyboard; it’s a complete experience, featuring an original B3 pedalboard and the iconic wooden bench, inviting you to sit and play with your whole body. The sound can be captured in two distinct ways: directly through pristine stereo outputs for a clean mix, or routed through a vintage Hohner ORT 100 rotary speaker cabinet to unleash that authentic, swirling Leslie tone that fills the room. Perched atop the Hammond ‘throne’ like a crown of modern synthesis are two compact powerhouses: the Behringer Poly-D, bringing fat, four-voice analog chords to the setup, and the gritty, aggressive Korg MS-20 Mini, ready to cut through the organ’s warmth with its signature raw, patchable edge. It’s a perfect vertical stack where vintage soul meets analog bite.

Roland & Behringer

This section unlocks two distinct chapters of Roland’s digital legacy, flanked by a modern resurrection of analog glory. Dominating the upper tier are the Roland JP-8000 and the D-50, the titans that defined the sonic landscape of the late 80s and 90s. The JP-8000 brings its famous ‘Super Saw’ waveform and hypnotic analog modeling, the very sound that powered the trance and euro-dance revolutions, while the D-50 offers its legendary ‘Linear Arithmetic’ synthesis, blending sharp digital attacks with lush sampled sustains to create those iconic, crystalline pads and bells. Anchoring this digital history at the bottom is the Behringer UB-Xa, a powerful re-imagining of the rare and coveted Oberheim OB-Xa. With its massive sixteen-voice polyphony and raw, sweeping analog filters, it injects the warm, orchestral grandeur of 80s Hollywood soundtracks into the setup, creating a perfect sonic bridge between the crisp digital precision above and the fat, breathing analog foundation below.

Alesis, Korg & Moog

This section is a sanctuary dedicated to the lush, orchestral warmth of the legendary String Machine era. At its heart lies a historic rivalry between two icons: the Moog Opus 3 and its formidable competitor, the Korg Delta. The Opus 3 brings Moog’s signature fat, singing string ensemble and rich brass patches, known for their organic, breathing quality that defined countless 70s and 80s records. Standing opposite is the Korg Delta, celebrated for its incredibly fast attack and unique, crystalline ‘string’ and ‘bass’ sections that cut through any mix with surgical precision. Together, they offer a masterclass in analog polyphony, creating walls of sound that feel alive and expansive. Crowning this vintage duo is a rare find from the 90s: the Alesis QS6. Often overlooked, this powerful sampler and synthesizer workstation hides a vast library of high-fidelity sounds behind its sleek black chassis, serving as a modern digital counterpoint to the analog warmth below and adding a layer of detailed, sample-based texture to the studio’s palette.

Behringer, Waldorf & Tiracon

This rack tells a story of synthesis across political and technological divides, anchored by one of the rarest instruments in existence: the Tiracon 6V. Built in 1987 in the former GDR (East Germany) just as the Iron Curtain began to crack, this fully analog 6-voice polyphonic synthesizer is a true historical artifact. Crafted under the constraints of a planned economy with limited access to Western components, the Tiracon possesses a raw, gritty, and uniquely unpredictable character that stands as a testament to East German engineering ingenuity. It is a sound rarely heard outside of museums or private collections.Rising above this Cold War relic is the Waldorf Blofeld, a compact powerhouse of modern wavetable synthesis. Known for its crisp, glassy digital textures and massive evolving pads, the Blofeld provides a stark, high-fidelity contrast to the organic warmth of the Tiracon below. Crowning the stack is the Behringer Wave, a faithful re-imagining of the legendary PPG Wave 2.x. By resurrecting the iconic wavetable scanning technology of the 80s, it bridges the gap between the two worlds, offering the digital harshness and complex motion of classic German synthesis. Together, this vertical trio represents a complete timeline of German sound design: from the isolated analog innovation of the East, through the digital revolution of the West, to the modern revival of those classic textures.
